Days Wizard F5 (S) was purchased in partnership with Newcomen Herefords for the top price (Poll Hereford section) of $20,000 at the 2012 Wodonga Whiteface. Wizard is extremely well-bred, sired by Herefords Australia progeny test sire Waterhouse and from one of the leading donor dams in the Days herd, Allendale Dawn Z21. Wizard was the stand-out poll bull at Wodonga and judged accordingly winning senior and grand champion. A real multi-trait performer, phenotypically Wizard’s muscle pattern is what sets him apart – through the tough winter here in 2012 he maintained condition exceptionally well. Ranks in the top 1% for SS, top 5% EMA, IMF, top 10% Rib, Rump and all indexes.
We purchased Russlynn Flare (P) for $30,000 at the record-breaking 2012 Dubbo National. He offers the rare combination of moderate birth, high growth and impressive carcase figures with a different pedigree. He is a valuable addition to our sire battery with excellent temperament, length, weight-for-age and all four dollar indexes ranking in the top 5% of the breed. Top 5% for SS, Top 10% 400G, EMA, Rib, Rump, Top 20% 600G, IMF.
Melville Park Aston A367 (H) is a very consistent breeding bull we purchased from the Melville Park on-property sale in 2007. Aston’s EBVs are tremendously balanced highlighted by an IMF figure that is at the top of the breed (+2.1). His sire Yavenvale Dodwell made $9000 to Melville Park and is out of one of our all-time great cows in GVPC Loyal S614. The Aston’s in the 2012 sale team exhibit his trademark thickness and doing ability while Lot 66 is the number one bull in the breed for IMF for 2010 born calves. An Aston son, Yavenvale Jet was one of the high sellers from the 2010 sale, making $10,000 to Nunniong Herefords, Ensay, Victoria.
Banemore Pompeii T036 was purchased for the then record price of $10,000 at the 2000 Banemore on-property sale. He has bred exceptionally well at Yavenvale siring the top priced bull at our 2003, 2006 and 2007 sales including Yavenvale Freedom, $22,000 to Cara Park and Raratonga Herefords in 2006. Pompeii T036 boasts exceptionally well-balanced figures with outstanding carcase merit ranking in the top 1% of the breed for EMA and IMF EBVs. He has been used successfully over heifers and his daughters are displaying tremendous doing ability and thickness. Yavenvale Cora W022, a Banemore Pompeii daughter is the dam of one of our reference sires for our 2011 bull sale, Yavenvale Homebrew.
