At the final Debarry on-property sale we purchased Debarry Rocky C303 (P) as a yearling bull for $8,000. We had successfully used Debarry Eden, another Bowen Vincent son and we saw Rocky as a continuation of this proven bloodline. Great skin and hair type and natural muscle are some of the traits that Rocky has added and he is the dominant sire with 10 sons catalogued in our 2014 sale. Rocky sired our second top price bull Yavenvale Functional who sold for $15,000 to Talbalba Herefords in 2012 while in 2013 Devon Court Herefords purchased another outstanding Rocky son, Yavenvale Goliath for $12,000. Rocky ranks in the top 1% of the breed for milk, top 5% 200G, 400G, 600G (trait leader for all growth traits), all indexes, Top 20% EMA and IMF.
Kidman Think Big E31 (P) was purchased for the top price of $27,000 at the 2011 Kidman on-property sale. A very correct bull that tracks perfectly with natural head carriage and presence, he combines muscle with softness and tremendous temperament. Think Big recorded 90% chance homozygous polled from the UQ poll test and with his powerful EBVs is a real all-rounder. His pedigree contains some of the breed’s most influential sires including Allendale National, Bowen Vincent and Bridge Powerplay. Think Big is the dominant sire in our 2015 sale team with ten stylish sons on offer. Lot 7, Yavenvale Justice is an eye catching individual with muscle and outlook. We retained semen in a son, Yavenvale Humdinger who sold for the second top price of $16,000 at our 2014 sale. Trait leader for 400G, top 5% of the breed for 200G, 600G, SS and all indexes.
Mawarra Virginian (H) was the junior and grand champion at Wodonga Whiteface 2010 and was purchased for the sale top of $40,000 in partnership with Newcomen Herefords. Virginian was the top selling whiteface bull at auction in Australia in 2010 and is sired by Cootharaba Magnum who has an imposing breeding record. In our 2015 sale the seven Virginian sons are representative of his figures, displaying obvious muscle (EMA figure +4.5) and weight-for-age (600G +97) with the added bonus of high IMF (+1.0). Virginian is a sound bull that handles a high workload each year and his daughters are functional and valuable mothers. Trait leader for 400G, 600G, SS and IMF, ranks in the top 5% of the breed for EMA and top 10% grain fed and EU indexes.
We were fortunate to secure Yalgoo Bridge D027 (P) for $8000 at the 2010 Dubbo Poll Hereford Show and Sale, where he was Reserve Junior Champion. A stylish bull with terrific volume he is breeding wonderful temperament and big EMAs as shown in the six sons catalogued in 2015. Lot 75, Yavenvale Jute is a bull with tremendous muscle and depth – a good example of what Bridge can do. Bridge’s sire Goliath is consistently breeding well for Yalgoo where his influence is widespread. Trait leader for SS and ranks in the top 5% of the breed for EMA and top 10% 200G and EU index.
