Churchill Silver V592 was purchased for the sale top at the 2001 Churchill on-property sale. Boasts the rare combination of high milk, growth and impressive carcase figures with high accuracy. Perhaps Silver’s greatest value to our program lies in his daughters who are exceptional females, rearing top-of-the drop calves. Silver sired the dam of the top priced bull at Dubbo Poll Hereford National, Valma Prestige E60 who sold for $46,000 to Tycolah Poll Herefords in 2012. Silver ranks in the top 20% of the breed or better for milk, rib and rump fat and SS EBVs, all valuable traits for our herd. However it’s Silver’s IMF EBV of +2.5 that is really exceptional, one of the highest in the breed.
Yavenvale Empire was sold to Melville Park Herefords for $65,000 in our 2005 sale. Empire offers so much to our breeding program – performance, phenotype and predictability. Used as a yearling and in a number of AI and ET programs since, Empire’s influence will be felt here at Yavenvale for many years to come. Empire’s daughters are really impressive with tremendous volume, exceptional milking ability and great udder quality. An Empire daughter, Y. Juliet C477 was the dam of our second top priced bull in 2011, Y. Everest E416 purchased by Nunniong Herefords, Ensay, Vic for $9500.
GH Neon 17N is a bull with a massive international profile. Yavenvale purchased the Australian semen rights in this exciting sire after he sold for $51,000 (Canadian) top price at the 2005 Calgary Bull Sale. Since that time semen has sold to seven countries and his first son, GH Rambo 279R sold for $135,000 (Can) for a half share. Neon’s success has been really widespread in Australia including siring two successive Wodonga Whiteface grand champions. One of these Mawarra Trail Blazer, sold for $48,000 and is the sire of lot six Y. Legend, a bull with a lot of potential. Neon’s outcross genetics, body depth and tremendous thickness along with his amazing performance figures make for a great all-round package.
Debarry Eden was purchased privately by Guilford Poll Herefords, Ouse, Tas for $25,000 where he has bred exceptionally well. We secured 100 straws and used the lot, so consistent were his progeny. Eden is a trait leader for milk at +26 which is a really accurate reflection of how good his daughters are - eight bulls in the 2012 sale out of Eden daughters. Y. Escapee E360 is a bull we retained to use over heifers, also from an Eden dam and with the same curve bending figures and cosmetics as his grandsire.
